progeSOFT has been producing progeCAD for over 10 years using the IntelliCAD Engine. IntelliCAD, as developed by the IntelliCAD Technology Consortium, a quasi, open source, non-profit organization, owned by no one and directed by volunteer's elected from the membership, has evolved over the years into a powerful toolkit available to be customized and its features evolved by the licensees of the ITC.

The ITC, or, the IntelliCAD Technology Consortium, is a group whose prime focus is not to do marketing or promotional activities, but to throw all the resources it can garner behind developing the core CAD engine. A CAD engine which is an integral component of many of the best CAD applications around the world.

Various historical turning points drove the development of The IntelliCAD engine,  born from a need to give options, options for both the users of the DWG drawing format, and also the software developers whose products depend on the DWG Standard File Format.

By providing the ability to read from, and write directly to the same file type supported used by the most prolific CAD software, helped to keep the price of AutoCAD as it is now. Just imagine had there not been something to moderate the corporate greed demonstrated by the makers of AutoCAD.

Imagine a world where the average Architect, designer, drafter, or engineer had to pay a ransom to be "allowed" to utilize the tools of their trade.

Company History
The first Library of graphic symbols for a CAD system, was delivered at the end of 1985 to ABB Italy.
For a long time, progeSOFT worked on the development of vertical applications for the industrial environment.
In 1999 progeSOFT was one of the founding members of ITC (IntelliCAD Technology Consortium)
The IntelliCAD Technology Consortium is an organization of CAD software developers, who develop applications for IntelliCAD, a Computer-aided design engine. The IntelliCAD engine, which is based on the DWGdirect library from the Open Design Alliance reads and writes the “.dwg” data format – a widely used file format for storing both graphic and textual information of CAD-related software applications.
Based on the IntelliCAD engine, progeSOFT developed its high end CAD solution.
Before progeSOFT, the industry was starved for a comprehensive software package for the deploy of 2D/3D drawings based on industrial standard for a fair price. progeCAD met that need.
